New wood burning stove
When visiting Greece as an unsuspecting holidaymaker during the summer months, you naturally don’t give much thought to what it might be like in winter. From our own experience, however, we know that the climate can still be very pleasant during the winter months. Of course, you won’t be lying on the beach in your swimsuit, but it is a beautiful time of year when temperatures on sunny days can easily reach 20°C. The evenings do get a bit cooler, and you notice this indoors as well. It doesn’t get bitterly cold, but having a blanket on the bed is certainly no luxury. We’ve come up with a list of improvements for our beautiful house that we are gradually carrying out. And, you guessed it, that list includes a high-efficiency wood-burning stove, which we had installed in September, complete with a refurbished chimney. For the time being, we don’t need to light the stove, as daytime temperatures are still well above 25°C. It will likely be late December or early January before we light it for the first time. We’ll let you know if the debut is a success. PS It is a It is a pleasant experience to see how people on Rhodes handle time and the concepts of ordering and delivering goods. It sometimes takes a while to get hold of the right people and make arrangements, but the way they treat you is heartwarming. Once you connect with the right people, making agreements is very easy. That’s why we’re putting them all in the spotlight (read more in the other blog posts on our website). The stove was delivered and installed, but only after Vasilis from “Art and Fire – Νικολίτσης Ιωάννης” had first carried out a thorough inspection. We are very satisfied and have really taken this company to heart, as they are not only very friendly but also highly skilled. Highly recommended!
